CCCCCCCRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
That's my reaction as Costinha whips in a shot for few yards out as Howard fails to clear a good free kick, a goal which puts Man Utd out of the Semi- Finals of the European Champions League for the first time in a long long time. Yes, it's quite a suprise what mood sports can put you in. You get something, a team, a person, a group to support and you stick behind them, at least for the duration of the game. I suprised myself by supporting Man Utd for about 8 years now if I recall correctly. Was never a really avid fan, but I've always been there behind them, defending any bad things that come along the way, argue my way past alot of argument on whether I was a glory hunter or whether they were still the best. But I've been dissapointed this past 2 seasons as my knowladge widens, interest wanes. I've discovered more than football it seems, love being the first thing, hanging out being the second.
I've missed alot of matches this season alone, more than what I have the past 2 years. The sad thing is that I don't even regret or missed it abit, the joy of a goal being scored, the heartbreak of a your team losing, the knot in your heart as the opposition gets a last gasp equaliser or winner. I don't miss the bets I made for each matches that was on, the winnings, the losings, the times I had with my brother or friends, at home or at a cafe, sitting down, taking sides, watching footie and the bantering going round. It's hardly suprising to me, since I never has managed to find a girlfriend who likes watching football with me, the best to the extend of knowing who Beckham is. Which only annoys me.
A good football match needs 3 things, a ball, some good players and cunt officials that we can blame at the end of the day. Today's match fits that bill. Porto was good, MU was equal. The ref and linesman was bad, so any blame goes directly to them. Sometimes you do wonder, what is the X factor that makes a sane person stay up until 4 in the morning just to watch a simple football game that doesn't promises you anything ? Certainly not a way to impress any girls, which makes up about the reason 80% of why guys study so hard. And its not to study the moves, because 40% of us can't be that good, 40% others simply can't kick a ball, just like me. I'm a decent goalkeeper, but far from a good ball player. Certainly not for the entertainment value, because for 90 mins, I can watch a movie better than any match.. Which reminds me.. I MUST WATCH LOST IN TRANSLATION AND LOVE ACTUALLY!!!!!
Heh, I've booked the DVD from my friend, so anyday now. Anyday. So if anyone has indeed figured out what is the reason we watch football so religiously in the first place, feel free to let me know, I'd be enjoying my movies till then.
